In yet another alarming case of kidnapping linked to foreign suspects, authorities successfully rescued a Chinese national who was abducted at a well-known resort in Parañaque City. The swift action of the Philippine National Police’s Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG), in coordination with the local police, led to the arrest of four Chinese nationals and the rescue of not just one, but two victims.

According to initial investigations, the first victim—a 30-year-old Chinese national—sought help from the suspects to remit ₱150,000 to China for his mother’s medical treatment. He had already given them ₱100,000 and was convinced to accompany the group to a casino resort to complete the transaction. However, during the trip, the situation turned violent: he was handcuffed, threatened at gunpoint, and physically harmed.

The suspects demanded a ransom of USD 50,000 in exchange for his freedom. Despite the threats, the victim managed to persuade one of his captors to return his cellphone. He used it to discreetly contact a friend, who quickly alerted authorities by dialing 911.

The emergency call was first received by the Parañaque police, who confirmed that the case involved kidnapping and immediately coordinated with the AKG. A rescue operation was promptly launched, resulting in the safe recovery of the victim and the arrest of four suspects.

During the raid, officers discovered six individuals in the room—among them was the original victim, his friend who made the call, and five others. Further investigation revealed that one of the five, a female tourist, was also a kidnapping victim.

The second victim recounted that she had previously known one of the suspects and went to the same resort on August 2 to exchange money. Instead, she was detained, her money was taken, and she was not allowed to leave the premises.

Authorities are now working to determine whether the group has targeted other victims. The AKG continues its investigation, urging anyone with relevant information to come forward.

This case highlights the continuing threat posed by criminal groups operating under the guise of financial services, and the importance of vigilance, swift coordination, and public cooperation in tackling transnational crimes.
