A torrential downpour failed to dampen the spirits or halt the momentum of a determined protest this afternoon as students from Bulacan State University (BulSU), spearheaded by the KASAMA - Katipunan Student Movement, took their fight for accountability to the steps of the Malolos City Hall.
Joined by various other sectors and organizations, the protesters stood unified, sending a strong challenge to local politicians. Despite being thoroughly drenched, their message was loud and clear: Demand justice and accountability from officials allegedly involved in massive corruption.
The rally specifically targeted officials implicated in the province's widely publicized flood-control anomalies and corruption, naming Congressman Danny Domingo, Boy Cruz, Tina Pancho, and Senator Villanueva in their demands for public redress.
“Basang-basa man sa ulan, hindi ito naging hadlang... (Even if we were soaked by the rain, it didn't stop us...),” a statement from KASAMA on their page read, stressing that the citizens are challenging municipal politicians to join their call for transparency and justice.
The mobilization signals a growing wave of public resistance in Bulacan. The movement’s leadership stressed that the time for hesitation is over, urging residents to continue their stand against those who have allegedly plundered the province's resources.
“Hindi pa huli ang lahat, walang hangganan ang diwa ng pakikibaka at pagkakaisa ng mamamayan. Sumama sa laban at panagutin ang mga kurakot! (It’s not too late; the spirit of struggle and unity has no end. Join the fight and hold the corrupt accountable!),” the organization passionately stated.
The demonstration serves as a potent reminder that the province’s students and residents remain highly engaged and determined to see that those responsible for corruption face the full force of public indignation and the law.
