Renewing Your Driver's License Made Simpler With The eGovPH App: LTO Pushes Digital Transactions In Line With President Marcos' Vision

In line with President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.’s vision of moving government services to the digital space, the Land Transportation Office (LTO), under the guidance of Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon, is encouraging drivers to renew their licenses online through the eGovPH app.
LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II highlighted that adding driver’s license renewal to the eGovPH platform reflects the agency’s commitment to making transactions faster and more convenient, whether clients are at home or at work.
“This is a better alternative to visiting our offices because you no longer need to spend on transportation or wait in long lines at renewal centers,” Mendoza said.
To use this service, clients need to download and install the eGovPH app, which is available for both iOS and Android devices. The app includes a security verification step to protect users’ accounts before they can proceed with transactions.
Once installed, clients can navigate to the National Government Agencies (NGA) section in the app, select the LTO service, and choose “Online Driver’s Application.” From there, the system guides users through uploading the front and back of their current driver’s license, verifying the details, and submitting their renewal application. The app also prompts users to take a photo following the standard format detailed in the instructions.
To ensure a smooth process, Mendoza reminded clients to complete the two required pre-requisites in advance: a telemedicine medical examination and the Online Driver’s Enhancement Program, both of which can be booked and completed through the LTO’s online portal.
After these steps, clients can proceed with payment by selecting a payment gateway and settling the corresponding renewal fee. A successful transaction results in the immediate renewal of the license, and the electronic version of the driver’s license is automatically generated and viewable in the app. Mendoza stressed that the e-license is as valid as the physical card.
Clients also have the option to book a courier service through the app for delivery of the physical card or arrange to pick it up from a nearby LTO district office.
“All of these digitalization efforts are intended to make LTO transactions faster and more comfortable for everyone, as instructed by President Marcos through Secretary Dizon,” Mendoza added. “We continue to evolve and improve our digital services, and we aim to reach more Filipinos, including those abroad.”
It may be recalled that last year Mendoza led the launch of the online driver’s license application service for Filipinos in Taiwan, reflecting the agency’s push to make its services more accessible to overseas Filipinos as well.
