BTS leader RM once again proved that music and culture can transcend borders. On Wednesday, October 29, 2025, the rapper and songwriter made history as the first K-pop artist to speak at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit, held at the Gyeongju Arts Center in South Korea.

Addressing world leaders, innovators, and business executives, RM delivered a keynote speech on “Cultural and Creative Industries in the APEC Region and the Soft Power of K-Culture.” Drawing from his journey as BTS’s frontman, he spoke about how creativity and culture can bridge nations and inspire understanding across the globe.

RM urged governments and industries to invest in young artists, saying, “Give them the opportunities so that their talent can really shine.” His message highlighted how supporting creative industries could empower future generations and strengthen global cooperation through culture.

This milestone adds to RM’s growing reputation as a cultural ambassador. Fans may recall his 2018 United Nations address for UNICEF’s “Youth 2030” program, where he inspired millions with his message to “speak yourself.”

The APEC CEO Summit 2025 brought together leaders from 21 member economies, with discussions ranging from artificial intelligence and global finance to the expanding role of creative industries.

RM’s appearance didn’t just celebrate K-culture’s global reach — it reminded the world that art, when nurtured and valued, has the power to connect people, shape economies, and inspire change.
