Romualdez Rallies Congress: 'Let's Keep Pushing For Progress-We're Not Done Yet'

After the midterm election break, it was back to business for the House of Representatives—and Speaker Martin Romualdez wasted no time setting the tone.
During Monday’s plenary session, Romualdez proudly shared that the House under the 19th Congress has made big strides in pushing forward President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s legislative agenda. From governance to key laws, he said the chamber has delivered results that are making a real difference.
“Let’s take pride in what we’ve accomplished,” Romualdez told fellow lawmakers, referring to the House’s success in passing 27 out of 28 priority bills identified by the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC). On top of that, they’ve already approved 61 out of 64 bills under the Common Legislative Agenda (CLA). Not bad, right?
But according to the Speaker, the work isn’t over—not even close.
He emphasized that there are still crucial laws that need to be passed to further improve how the government serves the people. Among the measures Romualdez is pushing for? The Open Access in Data Transmission Act, which aims to make internet access faster and more affordable; the E-Governance Act, to modernize government services and cut the red tape; and a first-ever law on Artificial Intelligence, which could put the Philippines on the map when it comes to emerging tech.
And in a move close to many Filipinos’ hearts (and wallets), Romualdez also threw his full support behind President Marcos Jr.’s P20 rice program, saying it’s an essential step to ease the burden of rising food prices.
In short, Speaker Romualdez is giving Congress a pat on the back—but also a nudge forward. Because while a lot has been done, there’s still more to do to bring real change to everyday Filipinos.
