Romualdez Says Conscience Is Clear As DPWH, ICI Issue Moves To Ombudsman

Former Speaker of the House Martin Romualdez released an official statement on Thursday, stressing that he has cooperated fully with the fact-finding process involving the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Independent Congressional Inquiry (ICI).
Romualdez said he voluntarily appeared before investigators, stayed in the country throughout the proceedings, and faced the process “with nothing to hide.”
In his statement, he emphasized that despite the scrutiny, “no sworn or credible evidence has ever linked me to any irregularity, and again, my conscience remains clear.”
With the matter now under the Ombudsman’s review, Romualdez said he welcomes the next phase, expressing confidence in an impartial and thorough evaluation. “I trust in the Ombudsman’s impartial and thorough review and evaluation. I do so with confidence that a fair and complete assessment of the record will reflect the truth,” he noted.
