SAS K9 Addresses Training Incident, Dog Confirmed Safe And Healthy

Search and Secure Canine Training and Services International Inc. (SAS K9) has issued an official statement following the circulation of a video showing one of its handlers during a training session on September 3, 2025. The video, posted online by a concerned individual, drew attention for what appeared to be inappropriate handling of a service dog.
According to SAS K9, the incident occurred during a daily proficiency test. The company stated that the behavior captured in the video does not reflect its values or standard training practices. Upon confirming the details, SAS K9 issued a formal memorandum of concern to the handler involved and required an explanation of his actions. The handler acknowledged the incident and expressed willingness to undergo corrective measures.
SAS K9 confirmed that the handler has been placed under preventive suspension and directed to return to its training facility in Cavite for retraining and reassessment. The company also assured the public that the dog in question was immediately evaluated and found to be in good health without any injuries.
In its statement, SAS K9 reiterated its commitment to humane and ethical training methods, emphasizing that positive reinforcement, including the use of rewards such as toys, remains central to its approach. The company added that internal reviews are being conducted to strengthen handler protocols and prevent similar incidents in the future.
The incident took place within Meralco premises, where SAS K9 provides security services. Meralco confirmed that it is coordinating with SAS K9 to ensure the matter is properly addressed. The company assured that the dog, identified as Bingo, is safe and receiving proper care. Meralco also reaffirmed its commitment to high standards of treatment for all service animals under its operations.
