Sasmuan, Pampanga is stepping into the digital age. The local government has officially rolled out the Paleng-QR Ph Plus program, joining a growing list of cities and municipalities nationwide embracing cashless transactions in markets, public transport, and small businesses.
The initiative, jointly led by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), aims to make everyday payments faster, safer, and more convenient through the use of QR Ph codes.
With Paleng-QR Ph Plus, market vendors, tricycle drivers, and local entrepreneurs can now accept digital payments from customers using e-wallets and banking apps—no need for loose change or long lines.
The program is part of the National Strategy for Financial Inclusion 2022–2028, which seeks to bring more Filipinos into the formal financial system and promote a more inclusive digital economy.
“Layunin ng Paleng-QR Ph Plus na gawing madali, mabilis, at ligtas ang bawat transaksyon ng mga mamamayan—mula sa palengke hanggang sa pampublikong transportasyon,” the BSP said in a statement.
