School Principal Shot Outside Midsayap Campus; Cotabato Schools Division Demands Justice

KIDAPAWAN CITY, Cotabato – The Schools Division of Cotabato has condemned in the strongest terms the shooting of Agriculture Elementary School principal Arlyn D. Alcebar, who was attacked outside her school in Midsayap on Monday morning, August 12, 2025.
Initial reports say the 54-year-old principal was driving a Toyota Rush and about to enter the school premises when two unidentified men on a motorcycle shot her. The attack happened in front of the school’s main gate.
Alcebar was rushed to the hospital and is now in stable condition. The Division Office immediately dispatched personnel to work with school officials, police, and other authorities to investigate the incident.
Calling the attack “a criminal offense and a flagrant assault on the sanctity of schools,” the division urged the Philippine National Police, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and all concerned agencies to act quickly in identifying, apprehending, and prosecuting the perpetrators.
“We stand in full solidarity with the victim, her family, and the school community,” the statement read. “Impunity has no place in a civilized society.”
