Second Filipino Fatality Confirmed After Myanmar Quake

The Philippine government has sadly confirmed that another Filipino lost their life in the aftermath of the devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake that rocked Myanmar last March 28.
In a statement released on April 10, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) shared that the remains of the second Filipino casualty have now been positively identified. The DFA said the victim’s family has already been notified and has asked the public and the media to respect their privacy during this heartbreaking time.
This update comes just days after the DFA confirmed the first Filipino fatality linked to the powerful quake. Unfortunately, the search continues for two other Filipinos who remain unaccounted for in Mandalay.
“We continue to hope for the best for the remaining two Filipinos still unaccounted for,” the DFA said.
Out of respect for the family’s wishes, no additional details were disclosed about the identity of the second victim. The Philippine Embassy in Yangon remains actively engaged in assisting affected Filipinos and coordinating updates on the situation.
