Speaker Dy: I'm Ready To Bare My SALN If It Promotes Transparency

Speaker of the House Faustino Dy III said he’s open to making his own Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN) public — if that’s what it takes to set an example for transparency in government.

Dy shared that the House of Representatives will soon review the rules on SALN disclosure to ensure consistency and openness among its members.

“Actually, hindi pa formal na napag-uusapan, pero ‘yung usap-usapan sa mga miyembro ng House, willing naman sila,” Dy said in an interview with broadcasters Ted Failon and DJ Chacha.

He added that the discussion will continue during Congress’ break. “Maganda ‘yan mapag-usapan para makapaglabas kami ng malinaw na patakaran kung paano namin ipapakita ang suporta sa paglalabas ng aming mga SALN.”

The move comes after Ombudsman Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla reopened public access to SALNs, allowing anyone to request copies—with personal details hidden—within 10 working days after filing.

Remulla also said he plans to request copies from both the Senate and the House, stressing that all government officials must file their SALNs with the Ombudsman’s office.

Dy, who has served in Congress for more than two decades, recalled that lawmakers’ SALNs used to be open to the public.

“Noong panahon natin, open naman para makita ng publiko ‘yung ating SALN,” he said, recalling his time with Failon in the same Congress years ago.

Asked if he would lead by example, Dy didn’t hesitate. “Kung kinakailangan, siyempre, lead by example tayo,” he said.
