Cebu residents affected by Typhoon Tino now have some relief. The Social Security System (SSS) has officially opened its Calamity Loan Program (CLP) to help members recover from the massive flooding and destruction caused by the storm.

Starting November 6 until December 5, 2025, qualified SSS members in Cebu can apply for the loan online through their My.SSS accounts, giving families faster access to funds to rebuild their homes and livelihoods.

Following the storm, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) declared all 53 cities and municipalities in Cebu under a state of calamity. According to SSS reports, over 200,000 families—or around 700,000 individuals—were affected, with hundreds of thousands evacuated or displaced.

What the Calamity Loan Offers

Under the CLP, qualified members can borrow up to ₱20,000, payable over 24 months at a 7% annual interest rate. Once approved, the loan is credited directly to the member’s registered bank account.

To qualify, members must:

• Reside or work in a calamity-declared area;
• Have at least 36 monthly contributions, with 6 posted within the last 12 months;
• Have an active My.SSS account;
• Have no past-due or restructured loans;
• Be below 65 years old; and
• Not have been granted any final benefit (such as retirement or total disability).

Calamity loans provide quick financial support to affected members, helping them recover more efficiently and rebuild their lives after the disaster.

SSS has also opened a separate calamity loan window for members affected by Tropical Storm Ramil in Roxas City and the Municipality of Sigma, Capiz, running from November 5 to December 4, 2025.

SSS assured members that its branches and online services are ready to process applications swiftly, providing much-needed relief to those working to rebuild after the typhoon.
