Built in 1890 by Mariano Pamintuan and Valentina Flores as a wedding gift to their son Florentino Pamintuan—who would later become mayor of Angeles City—the mansion has stood the test of time, serving different roles through different eras.

During the Philippine-American War, the mansion served as a base camp for General Antonio Luna, who used it as a defensive point in Pampanga. It was also here where President Emilio Aguinaldo celebrated the first anniversary of Philippine Independence on June 12, 1899—a historic moment that adds even more prestige to the site.
Years later, the mansion also became the headquarters of General Douglas MacArthur and was later seized by the Japanese during World War II. After the war, it briefly transformed into a clubhouse and hotel before being restored by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas in the 1980s. Eventually, it was turned over to the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) and officially opened in 2015 as the Museum of Philippine Social History.
