Student Beep Cards Arriving This September - Faster, Easier, And Always Discounted

Good news for students who regularly take the train: starting this September, personalized white student beep cards
will be available, giving you an automatic 50% discount
on fares for MRT-3, LRT-1, and LRT-2 — no more long lines just to avail of the discount.
This initiative comes in response to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to make student commutes faster and more convenient. Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon explained during his inspection at the LRT-2 Antipolo Station:
“The President’s clear instruction is that students should be able to travel quickly and conveniently so they won’t be late for classes. Starting September, commuting will be much easier for them.”
The personalized beep cards will bear the student’s name, be valid for one year, and can be renewed every school year. The process is straightforward: simply visit any station starting next month, present your school ID, and your beep card will be printed on the spot — no week-long waiting time.
Currently, the same type of white beep cards are already available for senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs), also with an automatic 50% discount. In September, the printing process for student cards will be as quick as that for these groups — a major improvement from the old five-to-seven-day processing period.
With these changes, commuting for students is set to become not just more affordable, but also a whole lot smoother.
