Supreme Court Moves To Fast-Track Corruption Cases In Infrastructure Projects

The Supreme Court of the Philippines is stepping up its fight against corruption — this time focusing on cases tied to infrastructure projects.

During its En Banc session on October 28, 2025, the Court directed the Office of the Court Administrator to closely monitor the filing of corruption-related cases before the trial courts involving infrastructure anomalies.

It also announced plans to designate special courts that will be tasked exclusively with hearing and deciding corruption cases arising from infrastructure/flood-control projects. The move is seen as part of the judiciary’s broader push to speed up the handling of sensitive cases and enhance accountability in the public sector.

According to media reports, the initiative is linked to infrastructure projects with alleged irregularities (such as flood-control works) rather than all infrastructure generally.

The full text of the Court’s resolution (code not publicly confirmed) will reportedly be made available on the SC’s website.

Observers say this step comes amid renewed efforts in the judiciary to modernize the system, strengthen oversight and transparency, and ensure that corruption cases involving public works are resolved more expeditiously.
