Taal Volcano Emits 900-Meter Plume In Minor Eruption-Alert Level 1 Still Up
Screengrab from PHIVOLCS
A minor phreatic eruption was recorded at Taal Volcano on Monday, October 13, 2025, sending a plume about 900 meters high above its main crater, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

In a time-lapse video captured by the Main Crater IP Camera, the brief eruption occurred at 11:42 a.m., producing steam-driven activity that lasted only a few moments. The grayish plume drifted from the crater as part of Taal’s ongoing volcanic activity.

PHIVOLCS reminded the public that Alert Level 1 remains in effect over Taal Volcano, meaning the volcano is in an abnormal condition but there is no imminent eruption. However, it continues to show signs of shallow hydrothermal activity that could still cause sudden steam-driven explosions.

Residents and tourists are advised not to enter Taal Volcano Island, which remains a Permanent Danger Zone, and to stay alert for possible changes in volcanic behavior.

Authorities continue to closely monitor the volcano’s activity as part of ongoing precautionary measures in the Batangas area.
