Taal Volcano Erupts Three Times In One Morning-Alert Level 1 Still Up

Taal Volcano stirred early Sunday, October 26, 2025, putting on a brief display of activity with three minor eruptions caught on PHIVOLCS cameras.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), a phreatic eruption occurred at 2:55 a.m., followed by two phreatomagmatic explosions at 8:13 a.m. and 8:20 a.m. These events produced plumes that rose between 1,200 and 2,100 meters high, as recorded by the agency’s Main Crater IP and thermal cameras.
Despite the bursts, Alert Level 1 remains in effect over Taal Volcano — meaning it’s still in an abnormal state but no major eruption is expected soon.
PHIVOLCS continues to warn the public not to enter Taal Volcano Island, the permanent danger zone, due to the risk of sudden steam-driven explosions, toxic gas emissions, and possible volcanic earthquakes.
Authorities are maintaining close watch as Taal remains restless beneath its serene lake view — a reminder that this small but powerful volcano is never truly quiet.
