Great news for our hardworking teachers and election heroes.

Budget and Management Secretary Amenah “Mina” Pangandaman has just announced that, following the directive of President Bongbong Marcos, all teachers and other poll workers serving in the upcoming May 12, 2025 National and Local Elections will receive a P2,000 increase in their election pay.

“As directed by our beloved President Bongbong Marcos, finally, our teachers and poll workers will receive a P2,000 increase in their compensation for the 2025 midterm elections,” Sec. Mina shared. She emphasized that this move is a long overdue show of appreciation for the sacrifices these frontliners make during elections.

“Alam po natin na sa pagbantay ng ating mga boto, haharap sa pagod, puyat, at sakripisyo ang ating mga guro at poll workers,” she added. That’s why, when the President gave the go-signal to improve their benefits, she said they acted right away.
Here’s how the updated honoraria now look:

• Chairperson of the Electoral Board: from P10,000 to P12,000
• Poll Clerk: from P9,000 to P11,000
• Third Member: from P9,000 to P11,000
• Support Staff: from P6,000 to P8,000

And it’s not just about raising the amount. Sec. Mina also made a strong appeal to COMELEC to make sure these new rates are released on time. “Dapat timely ang release ng kanilang benepisyo. They deserve nothing less,” she said.

To make all this happen, the Department of Budget and Management has allocated P7.48 billion under the 2025 national budget—an amount covering around 758,549 poll workers expected to serve in the elections.

Under the Election Service Reform Act and COMELEC Resolution No. 10194, these workers are also entitled to travel, communication, and meal allowances, plus service credit.
