Thousands Displaced; P2 Billion In Damage As Philippines Assesses Typhoon Aftermath

The combined effects of the Southwest Monsoon and Tropical Cyclones Mirasol, Nando, and Opong have left a significant trail of destruction across the Philippines, according to the latest data released by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) in its Situational Report No. 29 this morning, September 29, 2025.
Casualties and Affected Population
The extensive weather events have affected a total of 3,402,391 persons from 906,794 families across 16 regions of the country. A substantial number of people—413,056 persons—were served inside and outside of evacuation centers.
The report confirms four fatalities and 14 injuries. However, figures for reported casualties are higher, with 23 other deaths, 19 injuries, and 16 missing persons still undergoing validation by authorities.
Massive Damage to Infrastructure and Agriculture
The estimated total cost of damage has surged past P2.04 billion. The agricultural sector has suffered the most significant blow, with losses valued at P1.01 billion. Damage to infrastructure, including vital roads and bridges, is estimated at P979.6 million, with 158 structures affected.
In terms of shelter, 16,911 houses were damaged, a total of 2,600 of which were completely destroyed.
Ongoing Response and Relief Operations
Government agencies and partner organizations have provided over P302 million in assistance to the affected families. Available humanitarian aid, including food, non-food items, and medical supplies, is valued at over P321 million.
Current operations involve the deployment of a large contingent of resources:
• Search and Rescue (SRR): 22,946 personnel and 128 assets have been utilized, leading to the assistance of 48,108 persons.
• Debris Clearing: 8,876 personnel and 1,125 assets have been mobilized for clearing operations, resulting in the reopening of 51 road sections.
• Shelter Management: 32,682 families are currently being served inside evacuation centers, while 18,181 families are receiving aid outside.
The NDRRMC continues to monitor the situation closely, working to restore services and aid all communities impacted by the succession of weather disturbances. Disrupted essential services, including power in 16 cities or municipalities and communication lines in 37 areas, are priorities for immediate repair.
