The Traslacion of the Black Nazarene continues to draw massive crowds as hundreds of thousands of devotees take to the streets in a powerful display of faith and devotion.
As of 10:30 a.m. today, data from the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) shows that more than 223,700 devotees have already joined or are currently participating in Nazareno Traslacion 2026. At present, the Andas carrying the image of Jesus Nazareno is passing through Ayala Boulevard near the corner of Romualdez Street, heading toward Ayala Bridge.
Amid the continuing procession, Quiapo Church announced that the traditional “pahalik” at the Quirino Grandstand has been extended until Saturday, January 10, at 10 a.m. to accommodate the growing number of devotees.
According to the church, Rector Fr. Ramon Jade Licuanan approved the extension after observing the steady influx of faithful who wished to get close to and personally venerate the image of the Black Nazarene. Church officials noted that with Friday traditionally drawing larger crowds, the number of devotees was expected to rise even further.
During the pahalik, devotees are allowed to touch and kiss the image, a deeply emotional ritual that many consider the highlight of their Nazareno devotion. In previous years, the pahalik would usually end just hours after the start of the Traslacion.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation to ensure safety and crowd control as religious activities continue.
The public is advised to stay updated through the official Facebook page of the Manila Public Information Office for the latest announcements and route updates related to Nazareno 2026.
