Troops Deal Major Blow To EVRPC In Back-To-Back Clashes In Northern Samar

In a strong show of force against the remaining insurgency in Eastern Visayas, government troops from the 8th Infantry “Stormtroopers” Division delivered back-to-back tactical victories against the Regional Headquarters of the Eastern Visayas Regional Party Committee (EVRPC) of the Communist-New People’s Army Terrorists (CNTs) on July 31, 2025.
The twin operations, which took place in the remote areas of Barangay San Isidro, Las Navas, Northern Samar, resulted in the deaths of eight armed insurgents and the recovery of eight high-powered firearms. These engagements mark one of the most significant blows against the EVRPC in recent months.
Joint Task Force Storm and 8ID Commander, Major General Adonis Ariel G. Orio, credited the success to close coordination with residents in formerly conflict-affected communities. He emphasized that the cooperation of local civilians was essential in tracking the movements of the armed group and ensuring the mission’s success.
“This victory belongs not only to our troops but also to the people who stood with us,” said Maj. Gen. Orio. “For years, we have appealed to members of the Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs) to return home, to leave behind the violence and rejoin society. Sadly, some continue to hold on to a destructive ideology that has brought only suffering.”
He added, “To those who still remain in the armed movement—this is your opportunity. Lay down your arms, come home, and help rebuild your communities. But if you choose otherwise, know that we will not relent. Our mission is clear: to bring lasting peace to Eastern Visayas.”
The Armed Forces has reiterated its commitment to dismantling the remaining CTG elements in the region, with the 8ID intensifying efforts to prevent the resurgence of insurgent influence in vulnerable areas.
Security forces have since maintained their presence in the area to secure residents and pursue any remnants of the group.
