As of 11:00 AM on September 6, 2025, Tropical Depression LANNIE has slightly strengthened and is now located outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility. Based on the latest observations at 10:00 AM, the center of LANNIE was estimated to be approximately 400 kilometers west of Sinait, Ilocos Sur, at 17.9°N and 116.7°E.
LANNIE currently has maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near its center, with gusts reaching up to 70 kilometers per hour and a central pressure of 1002 hPa. The system is moving west-northwestward at 15 kilometers per hour, and strong winds extend outward up to 230 kilometers from its center.
No tropical cyclone wind signals are presently hoisted in the Philippines. However, the southwest monsoon, slightly enhanced by LANNIE, is bringing strong to gale-force gusts over coastal and upland areas in the Ilocos Region, Cagayan, and Isabela today and continuing into tomorrow.
At sea, there are no gale warnings in effect at this time. Moderate waves, reaching up to 2.5 meters, are expected over the seaboards of the Ilocos Region and Zambales. Mariners, particularly those operating motorbancas or similarly sized vessels, are advised to exercise caution and avoid venturing out if possible.
Looking ahead, Tropical Depression LANNIE is forecast to continue moving generally northwest toward southern China. It is expected to intensify into a tropical storm later tonight or early tomorrow while traversing the West Philippine Sea.
Authorities and the public are advised to take all necessary measures to protect life and property. Residents in areas highly susceptible to strong winds and heavy rainfall should closely follow the instructions of local officials and monitor advisories issued by their nearest PAGASA Regional Services Division for updates on severe weather conditions.
