Tropical Storm Quedan, internationally known as Nakri, has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility, PAGASA reports. As of 4:00 PM today, the storm is located about 1,370 km east-northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon.
The storm is packing maximum sustained winds of 75 km/h, gusts up to 90 km/h, and a central pressure of 998 hPa, moving north-northwest at 30 km/h. Strong winds extend up to 360 km from its center.
No wind signals are currently hoisted, and Quedan is unlikely to directly impact the country’s weather. However, PAGASA warns that the combined effect of southwesterlies, a low-pressure area (LPA 10c), and northeasterly winds may bring strong to gale-force gusts in several areas, particularly coastal and upland regions:
• Today: Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, Palawan, Negros Island Region, Central Visayas, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, SOCCSKSARGEN, Davao Occidental, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental
• Friday (10 Oct): Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, Palawan, Negros Oriental, Siquijor, Cebu, Bohol, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Eastern Samar, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga del Norte, Davao Occidental, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental
• Saturday (11 Oct): Ilocos Norte, Palawan, Romblon, Masbate, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Central Visayas, Zamboanga del Norte, Misamis Occidental
At sea, Quedan is not expected to affect coastal waters, and the storm is forecast to exit the PAR by tonight or early tomorrow morning while continuing to intensify near the Ryukyu Islands.
PAGASA reminds everyone, especially those in high-risk areas, to stay updated on advisories and follow local disaster management instructions. The next tropical cyclone bulletin will be released at 11:00 PM today.
