Tulfo Faces Quo Warranto Petition Over Citizenship Before Senate Tribunal

Senator Erwin Tulfo is once again under scrutiny — this time over questions about his citizenship and eligibility to serve in the Senate.
The Senate Electoral Tribunal (SET) confirmed that a quo warranto petition has been filed against Tulfo, challenging his qualifications as a senator. The case, which remains pending, questions whether he meets the citizenship requirements for public office.
Atty. Eleanor Francisco-Anunciacion, Deputy Secretary General of the SET, confirmed the existence of the petition during a recent Senate discussion. The revelation caught the attention of lawmakers, reviving debates about Tulfo’s citizenship status.
It can be recalled that the Commission on Elections (Comelec) previously dismissed disqualification cases filed against Tulfo over similar issues related to his citizenship.
While the senator continues to perform his legislative duties, this latest petition adds a new layer to the ongoing scrutiny surrounding his qualifications to hold public office.
