In response to the devastating impact of recent storms and heavy flooding in the Philippines, the United States government is stepping in with additional support. Through a Php13.8 million ($250,000) contribution to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), the U.S. aims to help the Philippine government deliver life-saving assistance to communities hit hardest by the calamity.

The aid, provided through the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration, will specifically go toward transporting food supplies to flood-stricken areas in Metro Manila, Northern and Central Luzon, and Calabarzon—regions that have borne the brunt of the severe weather brought on by consecutive storms and the intensified southwest monsoon.

“We are tracking the devastation caused by the storms and floods and are deeply concerned for all those affected,” said U.S. Ambassador to the Philippines MaryKay Carlson. “The U.S. Embassy’s interagency team is coordinating closely with the Philippine government and the WFP to ensure aid reaches those in need.”

This latest move underscores the ongoing partnership between the U.S. and the Philippines, particularly in times of crisis. With more rains expected in the coming days, both countries are working hand-in-hand to make sure essential supplies and services reach communities struggling to recover.
