FILE
The United States has lifted tariffs on several Philippine agricultural exports, giving a big boost to Filipino farmers and agri-businesses, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) announced.
DTI Secretary Cristina Roque said the products now exempted from U.S. tariffs include coconut, coconut oil, coconut water, desiccated coconut, processed pineapples, fruit juices, confectionery goods, fresh and processed bananas, tuna fillets, and dried fruits such as bananas, guavas, mangoes, and pineapples.
According to DTI and incoming Finance Secretary Frederick Go, these agricultural products generated over USD 1 billion in export value in 2024.
DTI-Board of Investments Usec. Ceferino Rodolfo added that the implementation of the tariff exemptions is still being arranged, while Sec. Go said negotiations for tariff exemptions on other products, including garments and semiconductors, are ongoing with Washington.
The U.S. Executive Order issued on November 14, 2025, effectively removed the previous 19% tariff on key Philippine exports, covering coconut oil, pineapples, bananas, mangoes, dried and processed fruits, desiccated coconuts, fruit juices, rice wafer products, tuna fillets, coffee, tea, cocoa, spices, oranges, tomatoes, beef, and certain fertilizers.
DTI emphasized that the Philippines will continue working closely with the United States to strengthen economic security and bilateral trade ties, ensuring long-term benefits for Filipino exporters.
