As floodwaters continue to disrupt lives across Luzon, the MVP Group of Companies has launched a large-scale, coordinated response to bring aid, restore essential services, and support affected communities.
From communications and power restoration to clean water distribution and on-the-ground rescue efforts, the Group’s companies are working in close coordination to ensure help reaches where it’s needed most—quickly and effectively.
“I’m proud of how quickly our people sprang into action,” said Manuel V. Pangilinan, Chairman and CEO of the MVP Group. “They all understand our deeper purpose—to make sure Filipinos have access to vital services, especially in times of crisis.”
Staying Connected in Emergencies
PLDT Inc. and Smart Communications have stepped in to provide free calls, texts, and mobile data to heavily affected areas, helping families stay connected and informed. Crisis Connectivity Centers have also been activated, offering Libreng Tawag, Libreng WiFi, and charging stations across various communities. The Smart Cares Crisis Hotline (+63288457799) continues to assist customers with emergency needs and reconnection efforts.
Power and Relief on the Move
Meralco teams, equipped with high-bed trucks and motorized boats, have been on the ground restoring electricity and supporting rescue operations. By July 23, nearly all affected customers had power restored. In parallel, One Meralco Foundation has distributed relief packs to flood-hit areas in Marikina, Quezon City, Bulacan, and Cavite.
Clean Water for Communities
Water utility Maynilad has delivered thousands of liters of potable water to evacuation centers and local government units. The teams remain on alert to expand deliveries as the situation develops.
Road Safety and Real-Time Assistance
Through Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), the Group has launched emergency response operations across its tollway networks. At NLEX and other major routes, pumping stations were activated to ease flood levels, while patrol and traffic teams provided assistance to stranded motorists. Adjustments to traffic flow, including temporary U-turn slots, helped redirect vehicles from flooded zones. MPTC teams have also provided snacks and bottled water to affected travelers, while using social media channels to share real-time traffic updates and safety information.
Delivering Relief and Encouraging Solidarity
The Alagang Kapatid Foundation, in partnership with other MVP Group foundations, is distributing thousands of relief packs and hot meals to displaced families. A digital fund drive, in collaboration with Maya Philippines, invites the public to contribute by scanning a QR code—making it easier to send aid for food, clothing, and shelter.
One Group, One Purpose
Across all efforts, the MVP Group is acting as one—drawing on the unique strengths of each company to respond where it matters most. Coordination with local and national authorities ensures that interventions are timely, relevant, and scalable as the situation unfolds.
“As the situation evolves, so will the response,” Pangilinan emphasized. “The MVP Group remains committed to being on the ground and restoring access to vital services for every Filipino we can reach.”
In a time of widespread disruption, the MVP Group is proving that with unified action and shared purpose, corporate response can make a real and lasting difference.
