VP Duterte, OVP, And DepEd Officials Directed To Answer Confidential Fund Allegations Following Ombudsman Order

The Office of the Vice President (OVP) confirmed on Friday, June 20, that it has received a formal order from the Office of the Ombudsman, directing Vice President Sara Duterte and other officials from the OVP and the Department of Education to respond to allegations surrounding the alleged misuse of confidential funds.

This development comes after a recommendation was made by a committee in the House of Representatives. House Spokesperson Atty. Princess Abante clarified that while the committee provided its findings to the Ombudsman, it did not initiate or file a formal complaint. “It appears that the Ombudsman acted upon the recommendation of the committee,” she said.

The allegations involve supposed irregularities in the handling of confidential funds, which have been the subject of recent legislative inquiries and public debate. The Ombudsman’s directive marks a significant step in the process, moving the issue from congressional scrutiny to a formal legal evaluation.

As of now, the Office of the Vice President has not released a detailed statement in response to the directive, but their confirmation signals a readiness to cooperate with the investigation process.

Further updates are expected as the involved parties prepare their responses and as the Ombudsman continues its review of the matter.
