Authorities are turning up the heat following the shocking killing of Tres de Mayo Barangay Captain Oscar “Kap Dodong” Bucol Jr., with both national and local leaders now offering a combined P2 million reward to catch those behind his murder.

Vice President Sara Duterte earlier condemned the attack, calling it an assault on freedom and the right to speak against corruption. She stressed that Kap Dodong was simply exercising his right to speak up—only to be silenced by bullets.

To push the investigation forward, Duterte announced a P1 million cash reward for anyone who can provide information leading to the arrest of the mastermind and the gunman.

Davao del Sur Governor Yvonne Roña Cagas followed with her own offer:
• P500,000 for information pointing to the mastermind
• P500,000 for information identifying the gunman

This brings the total reward to ₱2 million, signaling the government’s determination to bring justice to the slain barangay captain.

The Davao del Sur Police Provincial Office also urged the public to step forward, assuring confidentiality for informants.

As Kap Dodong’s community mourns, calls grow louder for accountability, protection for local officials, and a deeper look into the forces behind his killing.

“We Filipinos deserve better,” VP Duterte said, vowing that the fight for truth and justice will not stop.
