Resigned Ako-Bicol Partylist Representative Zaldy Co could be cited in contempt if he fails to appear before the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) hearing on Monday, October 14, according to ICI Executive Director Brian Keith Hosaka.

Hosaka said the ICI may seek the help of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) to cite Co in contempt should he skip the proceedings regarding the alleged irregularities in flood control projects.

“If the court allows it, a warrant of arrest may also be issued against him,” Hosaka explained.

The hearing is part of the ICI’s ongoing investigation into questionable Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) flood control projects implemented between 2018 and 2024.

So far, the commission has initially field-validated around 8,000 out of 29,800 projects under review. Of these, 421 are suspected to be ghost projects, most of which are located in Luzon.

The ICI earlier vowed to pursue accountability among public officials and contractors allegedly involved in the misuse of infrastructure funds.
