In a show of full-force political unity, Speaker of the House Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez gathered at least 100 lawmakers on Thursday to rally behind the senatorial lineup of Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas—the coalition led by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
At a luncheon meeting inside the historic Imelda Hall at the Aguado Residence in Malacañang, Romualdez didn’t mince words: “We need to go the extra mile for our Alyansa candidates. Vote straight. Go all in.”
The speaker, also president of the Lakas-CMD, called on his fellow legislators to mobilize their political machinery and grassroots support to deliver a resounding win for the 11-person Senate slate handpicked by the administration.
“These are not just familiar faces,” Romualdez said, referring to the candidates. “These are battle-tested public servants who can push our shared vision for Bagong Pilipinas. This election isn’t just about names on a ballot—it’s about continuity, stability, and progress.”
The Alyansa slate includes big names like former DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos, Makati Mayor Abby Binay, Senators Pia Cayetano, Lito Lapid, Bong Revilla, and Francis Tolentino, as well as former senators Ping Lacson, Manny Pacquiao, and Tito Sotto. Rounding out the list are ACT-CIS Rep. Erwin Tulfo and Las Piñas Rep. Camille Villar.
Romualdez emphasized the importance of unity in the upcoming midterm elections, describing it as a pivotal moment in the Marcos administration.
“This is about momentum,” he said. “If we want lower food prices, better education, more jobs, and upgraded infrastructure, we need a Senate that works with the President, not against him.”
Lawmakers from across major political parties—including Lakas-CMD, NPC, NUP, NP, and the Party-list Coalition—expressed support during the gathering. Leaders like Senior Deputy Speaker Dong Gonzales, Deputy Speaker Jayjay Suarez, and Iloilo Rep. Janette Garin echoed Romualdez’s call to close ranks.
The speaker also highlighted recent events showing growing support: a Lakas-CMD gathering where 10 of the 11 senatorial bets were endorsed by 200 officials, and a subsequent meeting where 40 of 60 party-list reps under the PCFI pledged backing for the slate.
Romualdez closed his message with a direct appeal: “Your endorsement matters. You are trusted in your districts. Let’s bring our message to every barangay, every family, every voter. Now is not the time to be complacent—it’s the time to act.”
