SC Orders Return Of P60B PhilHealth Funds
FILE
The Supreme Court has ordered the government to return ₱60 billion in excess PhilHealth funds earlier transferred to the National Treasury.
SC spokesperson Atty. Camille Ting confirmed the ruling, adding that it is immediately executory. The Court also barred the transfer of the remaining ₱29.9 billion.
The decision resolves petitions filed by Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III, the Philippine Medical Association, 1SAMBAYAN, Bayan Muna’s Neri Colmenares, and others, who opposed the diversion of PhilHealth’s ₱89.9-billion excess funds.
PhilHealth had already remitted ₱60 billion last year before the Court issued a TRO stopping the release of the remaining amount.
