Baguio City – Students across Baguio and Benguet took to the streets today, November 18, 2025, in a coordinated walkout to demand transparency, accountability, and better public service. The event, tagged #BaguioBenguetWalkout, brought together thousands of students from multiple universities in the region.

The walkout began at 12:00 PM at Benguet State University, Gate 2, and SLU Maryheights Campus for assembly and chanting practice. Students then proceeded to UP Baguio MK Plaza at 2:00 PM, followed by University of the Cordilleras, University of Baguio, and SLU Main Campus Grounds at 3:30 PM, culminating in a centralized program at Malcolm Square at 5:00 PM.

Organized by student councils and youth groups, the walkout highlighted ongoing issues of government negligence, substandard construction, and corruption that endanger communities, especially in light of recent floods and disasters in Cebu and other parts of the country.

Students carried banners, chanted slogans, and called for fairer governance, safer infrastructure, and responsible leadership. Universities participating included Benguet State University (which allowed its students to join despite initially not endorsing the protest), Saint Louis University, UP Baguio, University of the Cordilleras, and University of Baguio.

The walkout reflects the youth’s determination to hold authorities accountable and push for meaningful reforms in governance, education, and public service across the region.
