The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) disclosed that the return of former Representative Arnolfo Teves from Timor-Leste could potentially span between 7 to 40 days due to pending legal processes.

According to the NBI, Teves cannot immediately return to the country as he still needs to undergo certain legal procedures. "Our understanding from them is a minimum of 7 days to a maximum of 40 days. Regarding our position there, there's a cancellation of passport. We are preparing in the event that they allow Congressman Teves to be retrieved," the NBI said.

The NBI's narrative reveals the arduous process, particularly emphasizing the fingerprinting and photo verification procedures to confirm Teves' identity. It even reached a point where they sought assistance from the President of Timor-Leste.

"We encountered some minor skirmishes. It's probably normal for them to be emotional, and we are emotional too because they also have their process. We don't want to say it's like that. We just had a hard time, but their cooperation in apprehending was swift. We didn't encounter any problems there," the NBI explained.
