What was supposed to be just another busy travel day on the SCTEX took a heartbreaking turn around lunchtime today, May 1, 2025. A massive collision involving five vehicles—three SUVs, a container truck, and a Solid North bus—happened at the northbound side of the SCTEX Toll Plaza at around 12:18 PM.
The crash site is roughly 43 kilometers away—or about an hour’s drive—from the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Tarlac Chapter. Sadly, the Tarlac Provincial Hospital has confirmed that eight lives were lost in the tragic accident. Meanwhile, 28 other individuals were injured and rushed to the same hospital for medical attention.
Rescue operations are still ongoing, with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) of Tarlac leading extrication efforts for passengers who are still pinned inside the wrecked vehicles.
The Philippine Red Cross Tarlac Chapter wasted no time responding. Ambulance 2071 was dispatched just five minutes after the crash was reported, with four dedicated responders led by Team Leader John Robin Salvatierra. They were able to transport two patients to the hospital for urgent care.
Authorities are continuing to assess the full extent of the damage, and more updates are expected as rescue and recovery efforts progress.
