Public sentiment toward President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. showed a marked improvement in June 2025, as trust in his leadership rose significantly compared to the previous month, according to the latest figures released by Stratbase Group based on Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey data.
From July 2024 through May 2025, Marcos’ trust ratings had been on a steady decline, falling from a net trust score of +42 in July 2024 to as low as -4 in March. In May, his net trust stood at a modest -1. However, the June 2025 survey recorded a notable recovery, with his net trust rebounding to +18. This was reflected in the share of respondents expressing “much trust,” which climbed from 38 percent in May to 48 percent in June. Awareness of the president has consistently remained near-universal throughout the period, at around 99 to 100 percent.
Vice President Sara Duterte, meanwhile, maintained her already high trust ratings. In June, she posted a trust score of +38, slightly up from +37 in May. Her “much trust” level in June was 61 percent, compared to 60 percent a month earlier. Duterte’s trust ratings have been relatively stable since July 2024, when she began the period at +45, and she has consistently outperformed the president in net trust throughout the year.
Stratbase Group President Victor Andres “Dindo” Manhit described the increase in Marcos’ trust rating as “a possible renewed public confidence in his administration,” underscoring the importance of sustaining public trust as an indicator of political stability and effective governance.
The June 2025 survey also highlighted rising trust in other key political figures. Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero saw his trust rating reach 55 percent in June, an improvement of eight percentage points from May, resulting in a net trust of +31. Speaker of the House Martin Romualdez also improved his standing, with his “much trust” level climbing to 34 percent from 26 percent in May, bringing his net trust score to zero in June after months of negative ratings.
The SWS survey was conducted from June 25 to 29 among 1,200 Filipino adults nationwide, with a margin of error of ±3 percent. Respondents were evenly split between urban and rural areas, and across genders, with a broad representation of age and educational backgrounds.
These results provide a snapshot of public sentiment as the country enters the second half of the year. As Manhit noted, leaders who can sustain or build on these gains may strengthen their political position and improve their capacity to deliver on their administration’s agenda.
