Veteran Actor Choi Jung Woo Passes Away At 67 - Tributes Pour In For A Theater Legend

South Korea has lost another iconic figure in the world of entertainment. On May 27, Bless ENT confirmed that veteran actor Choi Jung Woo has passed away. The agency shared, “Actor Choi Jung Woo has passed away,” adding that the exact cause of death is still being determined.

Born in 1957, Choi Jung Woo was a powerhouse in the performing arts scene, known for his versatility on both stage and screen. He first stepped into the limelight in 1975 with the play “The Life of an Actor” and quickly established himself as a respected name in theater. He was a member of renowned theater companies like Shinsi and even lent his voice to various projects as a talented voice actor.

But Choi wasn’t just a name in the theater world. K-drama and film fans will recognize him from countless roles, both big and small. He was a familiar face in “God’s Quiz,” “Two Cops,” “The Chaser,” “Sympathy for Lady Vengeance,” and “Public Enemy 2.” His range continued in television dramas like “Brilliant Legacy,” “Prosecutor Princess,” “Gumiho: Tale of the Fox’s Child,” “Master’s Sun,” “Call It Love,” and more recently, “Tyrant” and “Who Is She!”

With a career spanning nearly 50 years, Choi Jung Woo was more than just an actor—he was a storyteller who brought depth and heart to every role.

The funeral service will be held at Gimpo Woori Hospital Funeral Home, and the procession is set for 10 a.m. on May 29.
He may have taken his final bow, but the legacy Choi Jung Woo leaves behind will continue to inspire generations of actors and fans alike.
