In a firm and forward-looking message during his oath-taking ceremony on Monday, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto announced that he has no intention of seeking any political position in the 2028 elections.
Kaya malaya akong gawin kung anong tingin ko ang tama," Sotto declared, underscoring a commitment to lead without political calculations influencing his decisions.
Now on his third and final term as mayor, Sotto emphasized that this new chapter in his leadership gives him the freedom to act decisively and without hesitation, particularly in pursuing what he believes to be right for the city.
He extended a message of reconciliation to his past political rivals:
Despite the call for unity, the mayor made it clear that accountability remains a non-negotiable part of his governance. He committed to holding those involved in corruption responsible during the remaining years of his term:
Sotto’s announcement reflects a leadership approach grounded in integrity and principle. As he enters what he has framed as his final years in office, Pasig residents can expect a mayor focused on reform, transparency, and delivering results — free from the shadow of future electoral ambitions.
