Amid the whirlwind of controversy surrounding a high school teacher's viral TikTok video, depicting her berating students, the educator remains permitted to continue her work in a public school.

The Department of Education's Assistant Secretary Francis Bringas addressed queries on Tuesday regarding the teacher's ongoing classes and the investigation into her actions.

In response to questions about the teacher's current teaching status, Bringas emphasized the need for precise information from the school head. He clarified that no punitive measures have been imposed thus far, citing the absence of proven allegations as grounds for any disciplinary action.

Highlighting the teacher's rights, Bringas reaffirmed the importance of due process, ensuring her opportunity to explain her side of the story. He reiterated that sanctions would only be considered once proper procedural steps are followed.

Moreover, Bringas underscored DepEd Order Number 49, which prohibits teachers from broadcasting live on social media platforms, as well as the Professionalism in the Implementation and Delivery of Basic Education Programs and Services. These regulations reflect DepEd's commitment to maintaining professionalism within the education sector.

DepEd's stringent child protection policy condemns any behavior that degrades the worth and dignity of a child, categorizing it as child abuse. The ongoing investigation aims to ascertain whether the teacher's actions violated this policy.

Despite the widespread attention garnered by the incident, Bringas disclosed that no formal complaints have been lodged against the teacher thus far. This aspect adds complexity to the investigation as authorities strive to uphold professional standards while safeguarding the rights of educators.
