For a while, eagle-eyed users noticed that the label had quietly disappeared. And naturally, it raised a few eyebrows and sparked a lot of online chatter. But don’t worry, it wasn’t anything shady. Google cleared the air and confirmed that it was just a glitch.

“The label was temporarily missing due to a technical issue. It’s now back on Maps,” a Google spokesperson said in a short but reassuring statement.

Now, when you open Google Maps and zoom into the western side of the Philippines, the familiar label is right where it should be. No extra steps needed.

For many Filipinos, especially with the ongoing discussions about maritime territory, this label isn’t just a name—it’s a symbol of sovereignty. So yes, its return definitely means something.
