Filipino tennis star Alexandra “Alex” Eala has reached a career milestone, climbing to No. 49 in the latest WTA rankings — the highest a Filipino player has ever achieved.

The 20-year-old’s rise follows a strong showing at the ASB Classic in Auckland, where she advanced to the semifinals before losing to China’s Wang Xinyu.

Eala’s journey to the WTA Top 50 has been impressive:

• In 2025, she broke into the Top 100, marking her entry into the world’s elite tennis players.
• She reached her first WTA final at the Eastbourne Open.
• She also won her first WTA 125 title in Guadalajara, further boosting her ranking.

By the start of 2026, her career-best ranking of No. 49 set a new benchmark for Philippine tennis.

Born in Quezon City, Eala has steadily become a trailblazer for Filipino athletes, inspiring fans as she continues to challenge the world’s top players. With the 2026 season underway, tennis fans are eagerly watching how far this rising star will go.
