Antipolo City 2nd District Representative Romeo Acop has passed away, a development confirmed by the Philippine National Police (PNP) and fellow lawmakers.

House Deputy Speaker and National Unity Party (NUP) Chair Ronaldo Puno confirmed Acop’s death and expressed deep sorrow over the loss of a longtime friend and colleague.

Puno said he was heartbroken by Acop’s passing, noting that their friendship spanned more than two decades and was grounded in shared public service.

“Sadly, he has really passed on. Our hearts are broken. He was a friend for more than 25 years and a devoted, courageous, honest public servant. The Congress and our Country are the lesser for his loss.”

Rep. Acop was widely known for his strong advocacy on law and order and his long career in public service, both as a legislator and a former police official. He served multiple terms in Congress representing Antipolo City’s second district and was regarded by colleagues as a principled and dedicated public servant.

Tributes have begun pouring in from fellow lawmakers, former colleagues, and constituents, who remembered Acop for his integrity and commitment to public service.

As of this writing, official statements from the family and details regarding funeral arrangements have yet to be released.
