Business tycoon Charlie “Atong” Ang has formally filed a complaint before the Mandaluyong City Prosecutor’s Office, targeting the whistleblowers who have accused him of masterminding the disappearance of several sabungeros or cockfighting enthusiasts.

The complaint filed against whistleblower Julie Patidongan alias “Totoy” and another former employee identified as alias Brown is for conspiracy to commit attempted robbery with violence against or intimidation of persons, grave threats, grave coercion, slander, and incriminating against innocent persons.

This marks a significant escalation in a high-profile case that has drawn national attention over the past year.
In an earlier sworn statement, Patidongan directly implicated Ang along with two others—Eric Dela Rosa and Engineer Celso Salazar—claiming they orchestrated the abductions.

“It’s all in my affidavit,” Patidongan said in an interview. Mr. Charlie ‘Atong’ Ang, Eric Dela Rosa, then Engr.

He also asserted that Ang, as chairman of Pitmaster, was the key figure behind the alleged operations.

Patidongan explained that he decided to come forward now because he believes the current leadership of the Philippine National Police (PNP) can be trusted.

In a related revelation, Patidongan also named actress Gretchen Barretto as someone allegedly connected to the case, referencing her close ties with Ang.

Both Ang and Barretto have yet to issue public statements addressing these claims. Meanwhile, the Prosecutor’s Office is expected to evaluate the complaint and determine the next legal steps. The case continues to stir public interest, as questions remain unanswered about the fate of the missing sabungeros and the powerful names now entangled in the investigation.
