Lawmakers have wrapped up one of the biggest tasks of the year — finalizing the national budget for 2026.

The bicameral conference committee, tasked with ironing out differences between the House and Senate versions of House Bill 4058 or the General Appropriations Bill, officially completed its work on Sunday after signing the committee report.

The final bill sets aside P6.7 trillion for government programs and services next year.

House Appropriations Committee Chair and Nueva Ecija Rep. Mikaela Suansing said the signing signals the end of long hours of discussion — and a shared goal.

She said the budget reflects the commitment of both chambers to craft a spending plan that is “responsive and accountable.”

Joining Suansing were Reps. Jose Alvarez, Javier Miguel Benitez, Albert Garcia, Marcelino Libanan, Jurdin Jesus Romualdo, and Allan Ty.

On the Senate side, Finance Committee Chair Sherwin Gatchalian highlighted just how thorough the review process was.

He shared that the document runs about 4,300 pages — and that it was read multiple times before being finalized. He added that once ratified, the full budget, including annexes, will be uploaded to transparency portals so the public can access it.

Gatchalian even described the 2026 spending plan as “the most transparent in recent memory.”

Both the House and Senate are set to ratify the report in plenary session, after which it will be sent to Malacañang. The President is expected to sign the budget into law in the first week of January 2026.
