Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) Commissioner Rossana Fajardo has decided to step down — saying she’s completed what she came to do.

Fajardo submitted her courtesy resignation on Friday, noting that it will officially take effect on December 31, 2025. She was appointed to the post just last September.

She called her time at the ICI “a profound honor,” saying she was grateful to have worked with people who genuinely value transparency, accountability, and service to the Filipino public.

According to Fajardo, she focused heavily on financial oversight and investigations into infrastructure projects — helping design evidence-gathering systems, drafting work plans, and guiding volunteer teams.

Her efforts, she said, were aimed at strengthening how the government handles procurement and budgeting for big infrastructure projects.

“I have completed the work I set out to accomplish,” she said, adding that the Commission’s foundational goals have largely been achieved.

Fajardo believes the next phase — including deeper investigations and possible prosecutions — should now transition to agencies like the Department of Justice and the Office of the Ombudsman.

She also highlighted proposals in Congress to create permanent watchdog bodies such as the Independent Commission Against Infrastructure Corruption and the Independent People’s Commission, which would have stronger powers to pursue irregular infrastructure deals.
