Graft Case Filed Vs Isko Moreno Over 'Illegal' Manila Barangay Election

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and 14 others are facing a graft complaint before the Office of the Ombudsman after Leilani Lacuna, sister of former Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna, questioned what she described as an illegal special election that removed her as president of the Liga ng mga Barangay–Manila Chapter.
According to Lacuna, the special election held to replace her was irregular and violated established procedures. She claims the move was politically motivated and filed the complaint to seek accountability from city officials and other individuals she believes played a role in the process.
The complaint includes allegations of graft and other related violations, though the Ombudsman has yet to determine whether the case will proceed to formal investigation. As of now, Mayor Moreno and the other respondents have not issued detailed public statements regarding the charges.
Lacuna insists the filing was necessary to challenge what she views as an unlawful action against her position in the barangay league. She argues that the special election was conducted without proper authority and due process.
