ICC Sets Date For Ruling On Duterte's Bid For Temporary Release

The International Criminal Court (ICC) has officially scheduled the release of its judgment on former Philippine president Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s appeal for interim release.
In a document issued by the ICC Appeals Chamber on November 20, 2025, the court announced that the ruling on Duterte’s challenge to an earlier denial of his “urgent request for interim release” will be delivered in open court on November 28, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. (The Hague time).
The order—signed by Judge Luz del Carmen Ibañez Carranza, who presides over the Appeals Chamber—clarifies that the English version of the notice is the official authoritative text. The appeal is tied to the ICC’s Pre-Trial Chamber I decision issued last September, which rejected Duterte’s request for temporary release while proceedings continue.
The judgment will come from The Hague, Netherlands, where the ICC is based, and could mark a significant moment in the ongoing case linked to alleged crimes committed during Duterte’s anti-drug campaign.
With the date now set, all eyes turn to the Appeals Chamber’s ruling—and what it could mean for Duterte’s legal battle moving forward.
