President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has approved a salary increase for the country’s Military and Uniformed Personnel (MUP), describing it as a necessary step to ensure that those who protect the nation are properly supported.

The pay hike will cover personnel from the Department of National Defense (DND), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Bureau of Corrections (BuCor), and the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (NAMRIA).

According to the President, the government recognizes that the country’s defenders deserve fair compensation and stronger protection from the state. The administration aims to provide adequate support and ensure that uniformed personnel receive the benefits they rightfully deserve.

The base pay adjustment will be implemented in three phases, scheduled for January 1 of 2026, 2027, and 2028. This staggered rollout is intended to give personnel a sustained and predictable salary increase over the next several years.

Marcos also reiterated online that the government stands fully behind members of the military and uniformed services, highlighting their vital role in maintaining national security and public safety.

The announcement has been welcomed across various security agencies, many of which have been advocating for improved compensation in response to rising living costs and expanding operational demands.
