Mario Búcaro has formally concluded his tenure as Chief Executive Officer of the Miss Universe Organization (MUO), less than two months after his appointment was announced.

In a statement, the Miss Universe Organization said Búcaro assumed key operational leadership responsibilities during the production of the most recent Miss Universe pageant. His role included overseeing coordination between local and international teams, strengthening strategic alliances, and facilitating engagement among sponsors, institutional partners, media organizations, and the pageant’s global community.

MUO noted that Búcaro contributed to “the coordination of local and international teams, the strengthening of strategic alliances, and the creation of effective channels of dialogue among cultures, sponsors, institutional partners, media outlets, and a global community committed to the empowerment of women.”

In his statement, Búcaro emphasized his professional conduct throughout his tenure, saying:
“Those who know me and have worked with me understand that I have always conducted myself with the highest ethical standards, and that in every responsibility I have assumed, I have sought to leave a positive legacy with every person with whom I have collaborated.”

He added that his time with the organization was a meaningful learning experience, allowing him to work closely with women leaders, dedicated professionals, and advocates focused on global women’s empowerment.

The Miss Universe Organization expressed its appreciation for Búcaro’s service and professionalism and confirmed that a transition process is currently underway. The organization said a formal announcement regarding his successor will be made in due course.

Búcaro’s departure comes amid heightened scrutiny surrounding the Miss Universe 2025 pageant, which faced several controversies before and after the coronation, including allegations of rigged results. MUO President Raul Rocha has issued multiple public statements addressing some of the concerns raised.
