Meralco Power Academy Grows Cebu Footprint With New University Partnerships
Contributed Photo
Meralco Power Academy (MPA) is expanding its reach in the Visayas after forging new academic partnerships with two major engineering institutions in Cebu — the University of San Carlos (USC) and Cebu Institute of Technology University (CIT University).
The collaborations, formalized through separate memoranda of understanding, aim to strengthen engineering education by integrating industry expertise, hands-on learning, and research aligned with the country’s energy and sustainability goals.
MPA’s agreement with USC, signed on October 27, 2025, will introduce joint training programs, energy-focused research initiatives, and immersive industry experiences designed to bridge academic learning with real-world applications. The partnership is expected to help produce graduates who are equipped with both technical knowledge and practical skills needed in today’s energy landscape.
Three days earlier, on October 24, 2025, MPA also sealed a partnership with CIT University. This collaboration will focus on workshops, knowledge-sharing sessions, and exposure to the energy industry, giving engineering students a clearer understanding of sector demands and opportunities.
With these Cebu-based agreements, MPA continues to broaden its national footprint and reinforce its goal of cultivating industry-ready engineering professionals. The academy emphasizes that its growing network of academic partners will help support innovation, skills development, and the country’s long-term energy needs.
